What we use and why it performs
Modern bags live or die by material choice. We edit textiles for lightness, colour fidelity, recovery after packing, and a hand-feel that still reads fashion-forward under office light and midday sun.
Knit & Polyester Textiles
Much of our Phase One collection is built from high-performance polyester knit and related technical textiles. Polyester delivers colour clarity, quick drying, and a favourable strength-to-weight ratio — ideal for city bags that travel often and wash relatively easily.
- Dense knits: Hold silhouette for daily totes; better resistance to showing contents than ultra-open weaves.
- Hollow / mesh knits: Breathable and visually light — excellent for warmer climates and vacation packing.
- Quilted & diamond stitching: Adds surface depth and dimensional stability without heavy boards.
- Colour-block & graphic knits: Pattern work is engineered into the textile itself for a cleaner finish than printed appliqué alone.
Strap Systems & Contrast Trims
Straps may be matching knit, integrated fabric, or reinforced with faux-leather / contrast trim for grip and edge definition. Wide strap geometry is preferred for load distribution across long wear windows.
Contrast piping and black trim are used strategically to sharpen silhouette — especially on khaki and neutral bodies — so the bag reads structured even when the textile is soft.
Hardware
Adjustable metal buckles, drawstring hardware, and zippers on pouch companions are specified for smooth daily action. We prioritise function that ages gracefully over novelty finishes that chip quickly.
Hardware finishes may vary by style; always refer to the product page for that SKU's specification.
Modular Companions
Selected styles include detachable zipper pouches or mini bags. These companions use the same textile language as the main piece so the system looks intentional whether worn nested or separate — useful for travel documents, cosmetics, or cable organisation.
Responsible Use of Materials
We prefer materials that extend usable life: knits that recover, colours that hold under city UV, and constructions that reduce the need for disposable liners or constant replacement. For care guidance by material type, see our Bag Care page. Questions about a specific piece can be sent via Contact.
